While there are several sports academies in India (mostly run by retired sportsmen & women), only a handful have the best sporting infrastructure and coaching facilities.

Netaji Subhas National Institute of Sports (NSNIS), Patiala, Punjab
Its among Asia’s largest sports institute and often referred to as the “Mecca” of Indian Sports. Has top-class sports training facilities (gymnasium, swimming pool, indoor halls, cycling velodrome, squash courts, conditioning units, hockey turfs, athletic track (cinder & synthetic) & outdoor courts. Sauna Bath, Steam Bath and Hydrotherapy facilities are also available for players’ recovery.

Gopichand Badminton Academy, Hyderabad
Founded by All England Open badminton champion Pullela Gopichand, the badminton academy is located in Hyderabad. The academy has produced players like P V Sindhu, Srikanth Kidambi, Parupalli Kashyap, Saina Nehwal. The badminton training academy has eight courts, a swimming pool, weight training room, cafeteria and staying facility. The academy also serves as a venue for major tournaments.

Bhiwani Boxing Club, Bhiwani, Haryana
In case you didn’t know, Bhiwani is known as the Little Cuba of India because of the large concentration of boxers.
And Bhiwani Boxing Club is the most well-known boxing club in India. Several star boxers (Vijender Singh, Jitender Kumar, Akhil Kumar), who have represented India at major international competitions (including the Olympics) have come from this club.

This pace academy has produced several top fast bowlers for India. Young aspiring fast bowlers are trained by Dennis Lillee (former Australian fast bowler) in Chennai. Notable fast players who have trained at the institute include Javagal Srinath, Irfan Pathan, Munaf Patel, Zaheer Khan, Venkatesh Prasad. Australian fast bowler McGrath has also served as the director of this pace foundation.
