French food company Danone will bring its international range of child nutrition products to India, to cater to the rising demand of better nutrition products in India.
The company says there’s a good demand in India for food products that can serve as solutions for allergies and IEM (Inborn Errors of Metabolism) in babies and children.
“People in India have misconceptions about packaged food. But a lot of R&D goes into addressing special needs. We understand nutrition and work on perfecting our formula, to benefit Indian tastes. Even physicians understand the science and relevance of our products,” Lima – Managing director of Danone India
While some of the products will be imported initially, Danone is also considering the possibility of manufacturing some of these food products locally.

Danone/Nutricia’s child nutrition business is driven by long-established former Wockhardt brands Farex, Dexolac and Nusobee, and its medical nutrition arm by another ex-Wockhardt brand Protinex. Danone India has presence in the dairy space as well (their curds are quite popular).
