Become a Certified Fitness Trainer: Training Requirements & Certifications

In order to become a fitness trainer/instructor and train people, you must first complete hours of training that specializes in fitness (and bit of nutrition). When you complete your training, you get a certification that can help you get employed in a fitness centre.

What Are the Benefits of Becoming a Fitness Trainer?

There are a number of good reasons why you should consider going through with the intensive training required to become a certified fitness trainer.

  • First and foremost, you’ll be given preference in jobs. This simple reason alone is why several fitness trainers go through additional training to become certified.
  • Secondly, it gives you the confidence to become a personal trainer where you could offer one-to-one coaching to clients and earn more respect and money.
  • Thirdly, you will have more opportunities for career advancement. There are many other types of jobs in the fitness industry available (again, that pay more) that are only open to those who are better qualified.

What Will Fitness Training Teach Me?

Fitness training will teach you about human body, its composition, how to build muscles & lose weight, how to avoid injuries, what to eat, and so on.

The fitness training involves theory (anatomy, muscles, bones, injuries) & practicals (doing the right forms), and nutrition.

Becoming a Trainer in India

To become a fitness trainer in India, you must first try to meet the eligibility requirements required to become one (in case you want to be employed be a fitness centre/gym of repute). They are:

  • You must undergo formal training in fitness education
  • You must complete the required training.
  • earn the right forms, complete your internship

The training programs to become an gym/fitness trainer, as well as the number of hours required during that training, is more or less the same in every state in India (most top fitness brands are fitness chains with branches all over India).

Applications to become a fitness trainer can be done through the institute that offers the fitness training courses. You may even update your resume and apply to various fitness centres, once you’re fitness certified.
