Former heavyweight Boxing champ Mike Tyson will soon be starting his chain of fitness centres in Dubai.
To be named Mike Tyson Academy (MTA), the centres will feature cardio, strength, functional training and boxing. There will be a full-scale boxing ring in every location, and a host of group training classes.
Tyson said, “I will strive to maintain consistency across all my centres with trainers that have been certified by me as well as exceptional training staff who will be on site to ensure a certain benchmark is maintained. I am positive that this is going to be only the beginning of a long-running successful association between myself and the region.”
And why did he chose Dubai?
Mike Tyson was impressed by Dubai residents’ obsession with fitness, and the top class infrastructure.
“Dubai has established itself on the world map by hosting many leading sporting events and icons and there is definitely a niche in this market for a fitness centre that is associated with quality and driven by a hard-core, challenging philosophy like mine,” said Tyson.
So is he going to launch his fitness business in India too? We will have to see, but at the pace at which the Indian fitness market is growing, it would probably be sooner than later.
I’m sure Indian fitness trainers will be eagerly waiting for these gyms to be operational. Several Indian fitness trainers work in Dubai in leading fitness clubs and facilities.
