Valentine’s Day for a staggering number of couples in Japan is about watching a movie, eating out, and not about sex.
As per a new survey by the Japan Family Planning Association, nearly half of all married couples here haven’t had sex for over a month (and didn’t expect to be getting between the sheets anytime soon).
The survey involved people of ages 18 to 49.

Some of the the possible reasons for the lackluster bedrooms in Japan, include:
- A workaholic culture (most men surveyed said they were too exhausted to engage in sexual interludes).
- Stress and unemployment is causing hardships that’s affecting their love life
- A psychologist says that many men “think of their wives as substitute mothers, not as women with emotional and sexual needs.”
- Lack of libido is also to be blamed for the country’s low birth rate
- Policymakers in Japan are concerned due to a decreasing population and workforce.
