Knowing the amount of body fat is good, but its also important to know where most of that fat is deposited in your body. Adults who store most of their body fat around their waists have an increased risk of diseases (high blood pressure, type 2 diabetes, heart disease and stroke) compared to those who have the same amount of body fat deposited around their hips and thighs.
Waist-hip ratio is used as a measurement of obesity. Another way of measuring obesity is absolute waist circumference.
