In India there’s a popular saying, “The way to a man’s heart is through his stomach”. However, not many take good care of their stomach (also known as your gut).
However, doctors say that good health begins in your gut, as is mentioned in this report as well.
“All disease begins in the gut.” -Hippocrates
Scientists found a relationship between gut microbiota (microbe) and lifestyle diseases. The microbial environment in a person’s gut with asthma, inflammatory and irritable bowel disease, and obesity is very different from that of a person without these conditions.
Your gut has 300 to 500 different kinds of bacteria containing nearly 2 million genes, along with tiny organisms like viruses and fungi. Everything together constitutes the microbiota, or the microbiome. Like a fingerprint, each person’s microbiota is unique.
The stomach is indeed the starting point of almost all physical conditions. It’s possible to reverse and repair the damage that’s been done to your gut over years of unhealthy diets or imbalances. You should try to figure out what food sensitivities you may have that could be affecting your body’s ability to absorb nutrients or digest.
A healthy lifestyle, nutritional changes (diet change to high fiber and unsaturated fats), and supplements is the key to a healthy gut and a healthy life.
