Himani Joshi is a dietician & nutritionist from Japur, She worked as a nutritionist for a few years (at clinic, and a gym) before going all out as a freelancer.
Here, Himani talks about her profession, how she promotes her nutrition business, and her plans for the future.
Why Diet is Important
Himani firmly believes in the saying “You are what you eat!”
When it comes to losing weight, most tend to go on fasting. But, a healthier option is to opt for a balanced diet, depending on your age, body structure and your life-style.
A similar approach is required when you want to gain weight.
Right Approach to Prescribe a Diet Plan
So is there any right way to recommend a diet plan? Yes, says this dietician.
Himani recommends the following method:
- Give practical diet plan that helps you to remain healthy (not just lose weight)
- Give diet (food habits) that manages metabolic disorders (if any) and avoid complications.
- Nutritionists should recommend diets that achieve weight loss (or weight gain) using scientific dietary suggestions. More importantly the diet should be customized for every client.
How to Promote Your Business
So while every body would be interested to run their own business. How does Himani promote her services?
Because she had worked in clinics before, she continues to conduct workshops at various clinics on the subject of Nutrition. That way people get to know her personally.
From time to time, she also promotes her health related services in local newspapers.
With bigger gyms opening in Jaipur, she intends to approach them as well, although she feels she may not get much business there, because gyms usually have their own in-house nutritionists.
