What are Singing Bowls
Singing Bowls (also known as Tibetan singing bowls, rin gongs, Himalayan bowls) are meditation tools. These are standing bells (not hanging) where the bowl sit with the bottom surface resting, and the rim vibrates to produce sound.

The sounds produced is believed to put the brain into a meditative state. The vibrations of the singing bowls produce feelings of relaxation.

What are are these made of?
The bowls are handmade in Nepal, and are made of Panchaloga: literally translated from Sanskrit as Five Metals: the metal alloys contain copper, tin, zinc, iron and other metals. These bowls are hand made and etched, therefore the bowl you receive may not be identical to the one pictured on the product picture.
Singing Bowls History
Tibetan singing bowls first appeared in the areas surrounding the Himalayan Mountains.
Singing bowls were designed with sound healing in mind, but they were also used for ceremonial use and even given as wedding gifts (considered auspicious). They were also used for storage of water and grains and for use as bowls and cups.
How to Use (Play) Singing Bowls
To produce sound, you need to strike the singing bowl at the rim, using a padded mallet.
You can even play them using the friction of rubbing a wood, plastic, or leather wrapped mallet, around the rim of the bowl (it emphasizes the harmonic overtones and produces a continuous ‘singing’ sound).
