Former Indian pace bowler Zaheer Khan launched ProSport Fitness, a chain of special rehab and training centres, in 2014 after retiring from active cricket.
ProSport already has a couple of fitness centres in Mumbai. ProSport will soon be providing gym management services for Kanakia Group and for “A Club” in Indiabulls Centre in Mumbai.
- The company is expanding using a multipronged strategy including franchisee model, company-owned centres and alliances with hospitals and developers.
- The company is in talks with several realty developers and hospitals to take up management of physiotherapy units in hospitals and consultancy and management of gyms in India.
- The company is planning to expand in tier-II cities by offering professionally managed physiotherapy and injury management services, currently not available.
- The company also plans to launch its intern programme with an aim to develop fitness trainers.
Zaheer is looking for investors in order to expand his business into multiple fitness/sports verticals, including online programmes and sports education for kids in schools.
So far, Khan has invested Rs 5 crore in ProSport Fitness.
I want to partner with one investor, or firm, rather than too many people. I need someone who can invest about Rs 20 crore, which will take care of the plans for the next three years. It will help us in establishing the business and achieving all the verticals.
Zaheer has has other businesses too. Zahir runs a couple of fine-dining restaurants and a sports lounge in Pune. In the past, he had invested in private label “Sher Singh” which was started by Exclusively.in Inc., an online retailer of apparels and fashion accessories. Zaheer exited in 2012, when Exclusively.in was acquired by Myntra. Zaheer is also keen to start a few more businesses, especially in the health and wellness sector.
Zaheer set up ProSport Fitness & Services in partnership with former Indian cricket team fitness professionals Adrian Le Roux and Andrew Leipus.
