Here’s how to slow down ageing and the various treatments and procedures that people use to look younger.
There’s no doubt that our society places a premium on good/young looks. People no don’t just want to live longer but also want to live better lives.
The good thing is that now we don’t have to just go with the flow when it comes to getting older.
As a matter of fact, many of us have found that instead of aging gracefully we’d rather just age slowly.
There is a new attitude toward health and looking young in our society.
We no longer think of ourselves as old as soon as we cross the 40-year-old threshold, as a matter of fact, many don’t think of themselves as old at 50 and over!
Everybody has a chronological age (real age) and their body’s age. And though it’s natural to age, our lifestyles can cause it to accelerate further.
By changing your habits (and using some anti-aging products), you can slow down the aging process; the key, though, is to find the right anti-aging formula that works.
Essential ingredients of Anti-Aging Products/Supplements
Essential Fatty Acids: Essential fatty acids (EFAs) greatly contribute to reversing the effects of aging. Unfortunately, our body doesn’t produce essential fatty acids, so it has to be consumed.
Minerals: A good anti-aging product will also contain traces of minerals.
- Gold, for example, helps boost the immune system and shore up brain function and the nervous system.
- Similarly, copper helps to keep tissues healthy, maintain the metabolism and nervous system.
- Chromium helps to regulate blood sugar by processing carbohydrates and fats.
- Likewise, manganese helps ensure proper growth, bone and cartilage formation, and brain function. Moreover, manganese is a wonderful antioxidant formula; it has any number of properties that fight free radicals and the damage that free radicals cause.
Plants and Herbs: There are some plants and herbs that, when combined with other ingredients, can act as a great anti-aging product.
- Alfalfa, for example, is a good source of several vitamins and minerals.
- Olive leaf extract can help boost the immune system, while pumpkin seed has natural anti-inflammatory
- properties. Milk thistle is a strong antioxidant, and can also help with liver function
- Astragalus root can help ward off colds and heal wounds and injuries.
Important Differences
There are several antioxidant products available on the market, but some are better than others.
An anti-aging natural supplement, for example, is better than supplements that use artificial ingredients.
Similarly, anti-aging products that are used externally, such as creams and lotions, are far less effective than those that work on the cellular level. This is because aging starts deep inside the body. By the time you experience signs and symptoms, cell damage is already done.
Choosing The Right Combination
A good anti-aging supplement contains a combination of vitamins, enzymes, amino acids, herbs, minerals, and antioxidants that works on containing the aging process. This combination works to improve a number of the body’s functions/systems.
- Because sleep has important restorative qualities, the supplements you choose should improve the quality of your sleep.
- Because mental alertness is critical to quality of life, the product should work to improve memory and brain function.
- Because ‘free radical damage’ impairs the immune system and can make you susceptible to a number of diseases, it’s important that the supplements you choose contain antioxidants that helps in the regeneration and reproduction of cells.
When the damage caused by free radicals is stopped, several of the body’s systems are positively impacted. Your immune system gets a boost, your nervous system remains healthy, your hormones stay in balance, your joints function normally, your vision doesn’t deteriorate, your metabolism works well.
Don’t Hope For Overnight Results
Anti-aging formula don’t work overnight; you need to give them time to show results. Even the body takes years to age, so we should expect the same when it comes to reversing the aging process as well. However, you can expect to feel positive effects of anti-aging supplements within one to two months.

Besides, it’s not just the genetics, there are numerous habits that influence heavily on how faster you age. Unhealthy diet, smoking, sun exposure, depression, alcohol intake, and exercise all sway on your health and age.
So, if you are looking to live longer, feel fully energetic and look younger, you better start avoiding these habits strictly.
- You Don’t Stop Smoking, Like Ever! If you need another reason to motivate you to quit smoking, add premature ageing to your list. Smoking is not only a threat to your life but a danger sign to your looks too. Smoking greatly effects how skin ages. It causes wrinkles, dull and sallow complexion. The more cigarette you smoke and the longer you smoke, the more wrinkles you are likely to get. It will really exacerbate the situation as it will hinder all process of your anti-ageing regimen.
- You Love being Tanned A tan is actually a sign of skin damage; damage caused by ultraviolet radiation. UV-A and UV-B both rays are emitted by the natural sunlight and cause premature ageing. UV-B rays cause more rapid tanning than UV-A as UV-A rays don’t cause burning until the exposure levels are high. Tanning tools use UV-A rays which penetrate more deeply into the skin causing adverse effects on the cells.
- You Can’t Resist Meat If your carnivore behaviour is slipping off veggies from your plate, then you are negatively affecting your lifespan. You eat more meat and fewer greens, so you consume fewer cancer-protective antioxidants and nutrients.Eating too much of meat can make you feel sleepy, make you sick more often, get you constipation, endanger your heart, may develop a kidney stone, make difficult fighting inflammation, get you dehydrated, increased risk of cancer and gain you more weight.
- You Rarely get a Goodnight Sleep There is no brainer that you aren’t getting enough sleep because of your busy routine. Sleep is a critical component of hormone regulation, muscle recovery, memory development, and maintaining a proper metabolism over time.Sleep deprivation can get you on the path of weight gain, anxiety, depression, and can trigger Type 2 Diabetes, high blood pressure, and heart disease. All of these ultimately leads to premature ageing.
- You are Too Lazy to Exercise Regular physical activity is an ageing essential for stripping off risk to your heart and keeping stress at bay. Exercising doesn’t compulsorily mean you need the gym to workout.Experts say that just 40 minutes of moderate walking can improve your health, lower bad cholesterol, protect your heart and most importantly, strengthen your bones. So, break your sloth habits and get moving.
- Fish are Your Friends but Not Food If you’re a ‘catch and release’ type of person, then you are missing out the major health benefits of fish. A study found that trans fat could exacerbate the UV damage from the sun, but fish fats could prevent it. The magic is in the Omega-3 fatty acids, DHA and EPA which lower triglyceride levels, dampen inflammation.
- You’re Constantly Stressed Out Freaking out constantly means boosting levels of cortisol, a stress hormone which is connected to the stress response. Nothing makes you look and feel more aged like a mental decline. Try to identify your stressors and find ways to avoid them because they not only retard your mental health but physical too.
- You Can’t Live Without Coffee Consuming too much caffeine can lead to irregular sleep time, poor sleep quality and total sleep time. What does it have to do with ageing? Well, if you’re drinking more coffee, you won’t be able to sleep well and poor sleeping leads to my 4th point that is, you are not getting enough good night sleep. So, alarm your mind that “more coffee means more poor sleep means pre-mature ageing”
- You Don’t Ditch Fried and Processed Foods You know, onion rings, French fries, pizzas and burgers are all bad for your gut, right? But, did you know that they have that superpower to snatch off some time from your life? When food is deep-fried, it is been exposed to oil and fat at extremely high temperatures. These foods are not only dangerous to your waistlines but also to your organs and insides as well.
- You Over-Love the Sun Sun is the biggest source of your Vitamin D intake. But too much of sun exposure can lead to skin damage, acne, sunspots and eventually ageing the skin. Not only soaking up too many rays can make you look older but can lead to developing skin cancer. Be sure to wear sunscreen of at least SPF30 before you step out in the sun.
- You Don’t Bother Being Organic Throughout your life, you consume a ton of toxic foods and drinks. These substances get built up on your bloodstream or get stored into your fat. It creates havoc on your health in later run by disrupting hormone signaling and causing inflammation.Choose organic fruits and vegetables against the toxin-filled foods and drinks to minimize the risks of heart diseases, diabetes, pre-maturing ageing and all other life-threatening conditions.
- You Can’t Lower Your White Grains Intake Vitamin B helps reduce inflammation and strengthen immunity. The high Vitamin B content in whole grains is almost entirely lost during the refinement process.Eating white grains like white rice, pasta, white bread, and pizza, means you’re eating fewer whole grains, which according to researchers, have powerful benefits.
- You’re Highly Driven by your Sweet Tooth Whether you are always sipping a soda, constantly crave for sugary so-called ‘nutrition bars’, or can’t separate yourself from sugary cereals, you are, at the end ageing yourself at hand. If you have a habit of eating dessert after your meal, try other alternatives of sugar because sugar boosts up the inflammation in the body, along with acne, marks and countless age-related diseases.
- Can’t Stop Drinking Alcohol Drinking in moderation has its own health benefits, but drinking excessive and that too regularly can be damaging. An occasional glass of wine is no harm to your health, but drinking those sugary drinks more often can cause cell-damaging free radicals Alcohol also robs the body from Vitamin A which is an important vitamin of cell-renewal and turnover.
- You Skip Fruits and Veggies By choosing junk and processed foods over healthy fruits and vegetables, you are telling your age to run like an Athlete. Eating a diet full of fibre-rich fruits, veggies and whole grains helps you sleep better and protects against stress and diseases.

How to Avoid Gray Hair / Balding
Graying is a natural part of aging and happens when the cells in the hair shaft stop making pigments. That lack of pigment makes the hair lose most of its color and turn gray.
There’s not much one can do once your hair turns gray, besides dyeing it. And it’s also not possible to stop the hair from getting gray over time. But you can always slow down the process, similar to wrinkles & even hair loss.
Here are some tips you can take to slow down the advancement of your gray hair (these will also help you lead a healthy life):
- Give Up Smoking: If you are serious about maintaining your good looks, get rid of your smoking habit. It should take care of most of your problems, including the hair-related problems.
- Control Your Stress: Stress is inevitable in today’s life, but there are always things that will help you relax. Start doing the things that you enjoy, find relaxing, & de-stresses you. Whatever works for you, just start doing it every day even if it’s only for a few minutes.
- Eat a healthy diet: Lack of enough minerals (especially copper) in your diet could be one reason your hair is turning gray. Foods such as lima beans, spinach, yams, and meat are rich in copper so start having more of these. You may even take a copper supplement if you wish.

Celebrities who refuse to age
Jennifer Lopeze
So what is the secret of JLo’s youthful looks?
Singer-actress-producer Jennifer Lopeze can afford to spend thousands of dollars every month in top-of-the-line dermatological treatments, but Jennifer also ensures she eats a healthy diet that keeps her energetic and also helps her look young.
In an interview with Us Weekly, JLo said that her diet consists only of organic produce. Veggies form the biggest part of her diet, and she also gets lean protein from salmon, turkey and chicken.
Women Under Pressure to Look Young
When Bollywood actress Sridevi died, many started asking how could someone aged 54 years die of cardiac arrest.
That is when I came across this write up which suggested that the pressures of looking young took a toll on her. It seems she regularly frequented clinics in Southern California to take treatments to look loung and wrinkle-free.
“Society demanded that she stay slimmer/look younger than a 40 year old, 50 year old and plus 50 woman needs to be–hence, the continuous surgeries. When i met her about 5 years ago, she was beautiful but a sad version of that self that we loved so much in a movie like Chandni. What a lot of pressure to keep her weight down, to make sure that her face had no wrinkle lines….continuous clinic visits in Southern California.
